The Sixth Annual Paws for a Cause Charity Night & Silent Auction will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 6-9PM at Blue Hill Tavern (938 South Conkling Street) in Canton. This event will benefit the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) and Lucky Cat Rescue. We are hoping that you will be a sponsor of our event!
BARCS is a non-profit organization created in July 2005 to take over the operations of the city shelter and to work directly with Baltimore City Animal Control. They take in homeless and unwanted animals in Baltimore City. BARCS’ mission is to provide sanctuary for all animals and to promote a more humane community.
Paws for a Cause is raising money to help BARCS with the costs of spaying and neutering the animals during one of their upcoming free adoption months. We hope that by covering this cost, BARCS will be able to afford to continue these free adoption promotions in the future.
Lucky Cat Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping cats and kittens find their forever homes along with providing information to educate individuals and communities on the importance of responsible pet ownership. Lucky Cat Rescue does not currently have a shelter, so all cats and kittens are in foster care with their volunteers.
Lucky Cat Rescue is also committed to promoting pet spay and neuter. They concentrate on spaying and neutering feral cat colonies which have caretakers and are in a safe environment. This practice reduces the risk of unwanted litters. Additionally, they help in the rescue of stray and feral kittens which require socialization and need to be adopted.
Paws for a Cause is raising money for Lucky Cat Rescue to aid with their TNR (trap, neuter, and return) program. Lucky Cat is targeting cats in neighborhoods throughout Baltimore City and is in need of additional funding to continue this program.
